Symphonies for Schools Elementary


These 45-minute interactive Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts introduce young audiences to symphonic music.


It only takes four notes to recognize Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony. It’s defiant, ferocious, and instantly unforgettable. Join the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a deep dive into the music’s liberating force, featuring a special interview with “Beethoven” himself.


The Los Angeles Philharmonic Symphonies for Schools program includes: Free admission to a concert performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall -- for any students in grades 3 through 5. Any schools that apply for in-person attendance will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if space opens.
  • Digital teacher resource guide in alignment with the State of California Visual and Performing Arts Framework and Arts Learning Standards and State of California English Language Arts Standards, including extensive information on orchestral music and cross-curricular activities. 
  • Information session around logistics for the day of and on the content of the concert performance.  The lead teacher in charge of this field trip is required to attend this information session, which will be held virtually.
Requirements:
  • Must be applying on behalf of students in grades 3-5. Students from the same school in lower grades will not be accepted.
  • Open to all schools in Los Angeles County.  Due to overwhelming interest in this program, we will not be able to accept applications from outside of LA County.
  • You are not required to be a music teacher to apply for Symphonies for Schools Elementary!
  • Schools with more than one teacher interested in bringing their students must submit ONE application. Multiple entries will not be accepted or considered. 
  • Application must be submitted by September 4, 2026 at 11:59PM. Only submissions made online via this form will be considered valid.
  • Arrange and pay for transportation to and from Walt Disney Concert Hall - unless granted a bus grant.
  • Attend an information session online prior to the concert.
Notes:
  • Seating inside Walt Disney Concert Hall will be at full capacity; please be as accurate as possible with your attendee numbers.
  • Notifications and confirmations will be sent out by the end of September.
  • It is better to apply and change your commitment later, than to wait to find out about bus resources or other logistics at your school.
  • A limited number of bus funding grants will be available to select schools that meet eligibility requirements. Information will be sent to those that request it below.
