Symphonies for Schools Secondary


From the enchanting “Für Elise” to the fierce Symphony No. 5, Beethoven’s compositions are among the most memorable and adored works in all of music. Discover the triumphs and turmoil that impacted Beethoven’s life as the Los Angeles Philharmonic performs selections of his career-defining works. Plus, listen in on a special interview with “Beethoven” himself! 


To close the program, the orchestra will premiere a Beethoven’s Fifth-inspired piece by Robby Good, the 2026/27 Steven Stucky Fellow Chair of the LA Phil’s Composer Fellowship Program. 


These 90-minute interactive concerts introduce Los Angeles' young music students to high level performances.


The Los Angeles Philharmonic Symphonies for Schools program includes: Free admission to a concert performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall --for music students in grades 6-12. 
  • Digital teacher resource guide in alignment with the State of California Visual and Performing Arts Framework and Arts Learning Standards and State of California English Language Arts Standards, including extensive information on orchestral music and cross-curricular activities. 
  • Information session around logistics for the day of and on the content of the concert performance.  The lead teacher in charge of this field trip is required to attend this information session, which will be held virtually.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Invited Rehearsals program includes: free admission to a working rehearsal featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall. All admitted schools will also be required to complete a mini-curriculum curated for this experience.

The Invited Rehearsals program accepts applications from classroom instrumental music ensembles within Los Angeles County.

Requirements for Symphonies for Schools and Invited Rehearsals:
  • Open to all schools, grades 6-12, in Los Angeles County.  Due to overwhelming interest in this program, we will not be able to accept applications from outside of LA County for in-person attendance.
  • You must be a music teacher to bring students to either Symphonies for Schools Secondary or Invited Rehearsals.  
  • Application must be submitted by September 4, 2026 at 11:59pm. Only submissions made online via this form will be considered valid.
  • Arrange and pay for transportation to and from Walt Disney Concert Hall.
  • Attend an information session online prior to the concert.
Notes:
  • Seating inside Walt Disney Concert Hall will be at full capacity.
  • Notifications and confirmations will be sent out in late September.
  • It is better to apply and change your commitment later, than to wait to find out about bus resources or other logistics at your school.
